Step 1: Drawing in Pencil- Some struggles that I had was getting the border proportions right on the boy; especially with his chest, arms, and torso. Although, I did have really good success with the legs and feet of the boy when drawing the border. That really help me gain confidence going into the next step.
Step 2: Starting charcoal process- Some struggles that I had was getting the right shade of charcoal in certain places. My problem was that I was using a charcoal pencil that had a stronger pigment than others, making my strokes darker than I needed to. Although, I was able to get some really good shading in the certain places using the artist mark.
Step 3: Finished Product- Some struggles I had at the end was the stoke and shading on the boys left leg. Because of all the creases in the pants, it was really hard to make them standout and be faded at the same time. So, I would draw the crease stroke then erase some of it to make it lighter and that really helped. Although, some success that I had was with the overall artist line towards the bottom half of the boy and I was very proud of myself.
